2013 Ford Explorer Sport

I recently had the opportunity to review the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport. I’m a girly girl. I love to drive and was a little hesitant trying out a big beast of a vehicle such as the Explorer Sport. That all changed the moment I put my foot on the pedalFirst of all to explain, from the outside, the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport is large, curvaceous and fierce. The seat is high up and you feel powerful with the might of the engine at your fingertips. I was a bit nervous about how well it would navigate. My nervousness changed to excitement the moment I started to drive.

I was transformed. The best way I can explain driving it was like watching a large bear perform ballet with grace. Taking turns was like running a knife through butter. It was nimble and quick to respond.

I’m normally acutely aware of outside noises when driving on the highway. With the Explorer, exterior sounds were perfectly hushed. The blind spot indicators are simply awesome, an added convenience you can only fully appreciate when driving.

The stylish SUV boasts a 3.5L EcoBoost engine and the model I tested retails for $53,000 and seats seven.Ford, Explorer, 2013 Ford Explorer, Sport, SUV, sexy, sexy beast, machine

My favorite part about test driving this vehicle was the numerous ooh’s and aah’s I got on the road. I had a city-bus driver honk as he drove in the neighboring lane; when I looked his way he pointed to the SUV and gave me two thumbs up. I pulled up to a local restaurant and had a bunch of teenage guys telling each other “Now, that’s a truck!”

The interior of this vehicle screamed luxury while the exterior gave off a silent “Hey, how you doing?” I’m converted. This sleek sedan driving suburban mama was thoroughly impressed.

The SYNC with MyFord Touch was easy to use and handy and I especially appreciated the ease of the voice activated navigation system.

The Hubby department was equally impressed. His 6ft 2” frame fit comfortably into the vehicle and he shared my enthusiasm with how well the vehicle handled. I’ve seen and driven in sedans that had a wider turning radius than the Explorer Sport.

I was impressed with the fuel efficiency of the vehicle thanks largely

to the EcoBoost engine. I held my breath as I pulled up to the gas station but was impressed that the total cost to fill up the tank rang in not a whole lot more than my own fuel efficient sedan. A definite CanadianMomEh two thumbs up.

  1. “like watching a large bear perform ballet with grace” lol love that! I always complain about vehicles being too noisey, love that this one is super quiet

  2. Sleek. We drive a large van (not as nice as this one) and it is nice to sit up so high. I hope that the bus driver wasn’t driving when he gave you the double thumbs up (smile). Glad to hear that you had a great time.
