Rogers #HometownHockey DDO recap #Montreal
Rogers Hometown Hockey was in Dollard des Ormeaux, Quebec this past weekend and we were there revelling in its awesomeness. In true Canadian fashion, we braced against the elements (think -30 Celsius), sipped hot chocolate and took selfies with Patrice Brisebois (cuz that’s how we do….lol).
In all honesty it was an epic event that was wonderfully organized and fun for the whole family. Our special contributor Zohaib Ahmed was on site and in on the action. The following is what he thought:

When you hear the words hockey in the city of Montreal you know it means more than just a sport played on ice with skates. Hockey is the life that runs within the people of Montreal and Rogers Hometown Hockey brought out that life this weekend in DDO.
It felt like an outdoor party where the host made you stay and gave you everything you wanted, from giveaways to hot chocolate to being on TV and meeting some of your favourite athletes. The atmosphere was great, seeing kids smiling and sipping away at their hot chocolates was amazing! Fun and games, hockey activities, Xbox and Beaver Tails! Top all the fun off with the Montreal Canadiens playing two weekend games and everyone was able to join their fellow Habs fans to cheer on the team!
Who doesn’t want to meet celebrities and former NHL players? This was the place to be and I am so happy to have been able to meet former Montreal Canadiens defenceman and Stanley Cup Champion Patrice Brisebois. He was such a class act and very down to earth, there was a moment where he bumped into me on purpose as I wasn’t looking towards him, I turned around to say sorry to who I bumped into only to see Patrice giving me a “what’s up” look!
I loved getting to meet and interview Alexandre Despatie who was truly amazing! The two time Olympic silver medalist and host of Breakfast Television on CityTV was very encouraging and gladly took pictures and shot the following video for us!
Sunday morning was packed and before starting his live broadcast I saw Ron MacLean in his Sportsnet Mobile Studio, I pulled out my phone to take a picture of him and he not only made eye contact he came closer to the window and gave a thumbs up! Jennifer Botterill and PJ Stock were also there and both showed their appreciation of not only the fans but the game of hockey. And none other than the legendary Guy Lafleur was there, hearing him speak about his time playing in Montreal was awe-inspiring and much more touching in person than on TV. Meeting these people and seeing how much they appreciate the fans is really encouraging and heartwarming.
Rogers put together a great event and despite the freezing cold weather people came out to celebrate hockey. This was such a special weekend for many and having the opportunity to be there representing CanadianMomEh was wonderful. Having access to inside the mobile studio for a few minutes was a privilege! I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for this great experience!

What fun! When you go to a fun event like that, you barely think about the cold right?
This looks like such a fun event! I still haven’t made it to a hockey game yet but my husband and I are both wanting to go check one out I bet it would be so fun.

I would love to see a hockey game one day. Bucket list item
I am always slightly envious of seeing your posts and all the fun hockey things you get to do. It isn’t a sport real popular around here, and nobody understands why I like it.
Awesome! So happy to hear. That’s the beauty of social media 🙂
Looks like you had such a great time. Hockey is big here in MI and the parties for them can be quite entertaining.
More power to you!! I’m from Chicago, so I know cold, but I definitely don’t go out much in it!
I would love to travel to Montreal. I would also like to see hockey live there. I’m not a fan on television, but in person it must be amazing!
Miss our hockey days. Before we had kids we just to go to the hockey games.
I’ve never been to a hockey game but I can see what the excitement is. So glad you enjoyed your time at the event and got to meet some great people.
I have to admit I am clueless when it comes to Ice Hockey. Looks like you all had a great time and best of all meet celebrities.
I am not much into hockey as I have never been to a game but everyone I talk to say it is an awesome experience.
I think seeing a hockey game in person would be so exciting! I’m kind of jealous, it looks like you had a lot of fun.
How funny that Patrice teased you a bit with a bump when you weren’t looking. What a really neat experience you had there!
Ah we love hockey! This would be so fun! Hockey is a huge sport in our house but we haven’t gone out to a game in so so long! Looks like great fun!
Wow, this looks like so much fun. Although cold! Very cold, LOL. I can related to meeting the different players and former players and how thrilling that must be. I am a big Green Bay Packers fan and I feel the same way when I travel there and am in that environment. It is exciting!
I love Canadian hockey games nothing really can beat a true hockey game in Cananda. Born and raised in Toronto but I live in Michigan now and don’t get to go to many games unless its a kwings game.
This sounds like a lot of fun! I have never attended a hockey game before, probably because I don’t like cold weather, but now I want too.
Wow! It looks like you had a great time. I’ve never been to a hockey game before. This makes me want to go to one.
This is how you know you’re Canadian, what an amazing way to spend your day; I hope you had a great time!
Looks like such a fun family outing. Plus, you met a celebrity. I would call that a successful day.
It looks like you had a blast. I am so jealous you got to meet Alexandre Despatie..
