Dishcrawl Montreal: Mom’s Night Out review
CanadianMomEh.com was a proud sponsor of Dishcrawl Montreal’s recent event: Mom’s Night Out.
Our first of four stops, Bistro 1272 served a tantalizing lobster bisque cappuccino, exquisite salmon tartare (my first time trying it), a fried polenta and an incredible lobster spring roll. The intimate restaurant had an open front entrance which allowed for us to enjoy the fresh air while we dined.
We then moved on to Kitchenette. Our host Jenny was absolutely wonderful, entertaining and considerate. One of the moms opted to bring her pre-teen foodie daughter along with her. Jenny arranged for the aspiring chef to meet the chef at Kitchenette. They were so kind and generous; they asked her for feedback on the food and allowed her to watch the food being prepared.
At Kitchenette we dined on tuna tartare on a homemade warm tortilla chip, a mini lobster pizza with mozzarella cheese and Quebec arugula; followed by an exquisite creation of a blackened wild striped bass with sweet corn succotash. It was so delicious, we barely wanted to move on to the next location.
Lucky for us though, we did. We entered one of the most beautiful outdoor terraces I have visited in my native city. It was more like an outdoor dining room. There was a breathtaking wooden awning perched right below the treetops and a warm covert heater attached to the ceiling that made our table the perfect place to be seated. We had the cool evening breeze coming through the trees, while we basked in the warm heat from overhead.
The owner was fantastic. He offered to make us his special rose martinis (virgin for the non-drinkers). He had created this drink for Montreal’s Botanical Gardens. It was delicious; fruity yet fresh.
Last but certainly not least, we hit rest-cafe 1000 Grammes. The server suggested he bring us each a different piece of cake and we can share if we like. What followed then can best be described as a demolition of exquisite deserts. So, this is what it started off as:
All in all we had a fantastic, high energy, foodilicious evening. I would highly recommend Dishcrawl to anyone who has even the slightest hint of foodie-ness inside of them. I’d like to especially thank our wonderful hostess for the evening, Jenny King, for hosting us and organizing an amazing Dishcrawl.
The food at each of our stops was wonderful and despite a boil water advisory in place in Montreal that evening, we still managed to thoroughly enjoy ourselves. It just meant that it was either mixed drinks or bottled water.
At the end of the evening, everyone wanted to know when we could do this again! The sign of a great night.
What a great night out. Looks like a great time was had by all.
It was a lot of fun, thanks 🙂
What a fantastic idea! I have never even heard of a dishcrawl (and I’m from a big city). I can just imagine how much fun you ladies had!
It is such an amazing concept! It was everyone (in our group)’s first time at a Dishcrawl event and they all said they’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Ahhhh this sounds right up my alley! I’m definitely a foodie and love the opportunity (rare these days!) to go out and enjoy some gourmet eats. Thanks for sharing – will have to look into this further!
Dishcrawl has some great events across North America. Check them out 🙂
I haven’t been to Montreal since I was in my early 20s and I’d forgotten how amazing the food there can be! You are making me crave a serious roadtrip!
Awesome! Thank you. Montreal has a wonderful array of amazing restaurants.
