CanadianMomEh celebrates four years #socialmedia #blog #media
Four years folks! Today marks four years since I first launched CanadianMomEh.com with this post. The past four years have flown by and have been above and beyond what I had imagined they would be. I originally started this blog with the intention of sharing my journey of motherhood with friends and family. With the encouragement of family, friends and my amazing readers, it has led to so much more. It has become a voice for not only myself but for so many Canadians (both here and abroad) in celebrating cultural diversity, multiple cultures and time honoured traditions.
I have used my platform to write about issues that matter to me, my community and thousands of people who are not represented by traditional media/marketing. I was honoured to write a heartfelt open letter to former Quebec premiere Pauline Marois that wound up going viral. Along with the tsunami of support I received from thousands of Canadians (locally, nationally and internationally) came hateful messages, tweets and emails as well. Those hateful messages reminded me of the importance of speaking up for the underdog, for those who suffer in silence. The Canadian election was a big issue here on the blog and my social channels.
For the most part, what gets me ticking is Canadian Politics, hockey and good coffee. That’s what riles me up, oh and discrimination, racial profiling and all that other human rights abuse jazz. I’m not afraid to speak my mind but more importantly, I am honoured to speak for so many who are not represented in traditional media.
Along the way I have had the opportunity to work with some fabulous brands, sharing their products and services with you but also sharing the needs, wants and likes of my readers with these brands and influencing how they market their products and services while celebrating diversity.
While we’re on the subject. Here are some ways you can help show YOUR support and encouragement. Leave a comment, share my posts, retweet me on Twitter and make sure you’re following along on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube.
Here are some of my favourite moments from the past four years.
Thanks for an awesome and adventurous four years, here’s to many more 🙂
I like the photo of you and your Dad at the Montreal Canadian hockey game. My favourite.
Thanks Vicki 🙂
