The 2015 Chevrolet Trax has got moves like Jagger #review #ChevyAmsdr cc @chevroletcanada

I like big cars and I will not lie. It’s a truth that I don’t deny. I love a nice high ride in an SUV, its curb appeal, elevated vantage point and the feeling of authority as I peer out at the cars beside me on the road. The pinch at the pump? Not so much. At the same time, I also enjoy the nimble handling of a compact car. These two worlds have collided with the 2015 Chevrolet Trax. This unique crossover gives you the perks of an SUV with the ease of handling and fuel efficiency of a compact car. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

It features a powerful yet fuel efficient turbocharged 1.4L engine plus all the latest available must-have entertainment and connectivity technology like OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot capability.

This car’s got moves like Jagger. When you’re driving around, the car is so smooth, you almost forget that you’re in a crossover but when you look out around you, you get to enjoy the elevated view and muscular build of this hot ride.

My first thought when I saw the 2015 Chevrolet Trax was how adorable it was. Yup, you read right. Adorable. It looks like a smushed SUV in a great way. It fit comfortably in my garage which tells me that it’s great as a family car. My kids thought it was “SO cute.”

It had enough trunk space to handle day to day errands but also expands thanks to the 60/40 flip-and-fold rear seat and fold-flat front passenger seat. I particularly liked the trunk cover featured in the model I reviewed. It allowed me to store my bags and belongings with peace of mind as they were fully concealed from the outside.

I love that the LS and 1LT Trax models are equipped with a manual four-way driver’s seat and power lumbar adjusters. 2LT and LTZ models include power six-way driver’s seat adjusters. LTZ also features heated front seats for that extra level of comfort.

I was impressed with the digital dashboard display. It was minimalist and practical. No need to glance around for multiple gauges and readings, everything is in front of you on a digital display. It takes the guesswork out of estimating your exact speed. I also really liked where the heated seats button was located, on the temperature gauge…brilliant. While it sounds straightforward, you’d be amazed at how many cars have their heated seats buttons inconveniently placed.

The standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, four-wheel ABS with Panic Brake Assist and Hill Start Assist, plus traction control are reassuring to say the least. The rear vision camera system that’s standard on 2LT and LTZ models really helps you remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings. It uses a touch-screen display to help you see stationary objects behind your Trax when travelling in reverse at low speeds.

As I mentioned in my recent review of the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, if a collision can’t be prevented, you can count on a high-strength steel safety cage, plus 10 standard airbags to protect the passenger compartment. As parent and a consumer that’s the peace of mind that I’m looking for when purchasing a new vehicle.

Stay in Touch while you Drive
The standard Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity allows you to make and receive calls using voice commands. This is really great for anyone who likes to keep in touch. I find that on busy days, the only time I really get to make phone calls is when I’m driving. I love being able to use Apple Siri Eyes Free. The Trax is  the first vehicle in its class to integrate using the available Chevrolet MyLink and Bluetooth. Siri Eyes Free allows you to complete several hands-free tasks like composing text and email messages, and storing contacts on your smartphone through voice commands, using your iPhone.

The 2015 OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot capability is incredible and accommodates up to 7 compatible devices. No more searching for Wi-Fi when driving. This revolutionizes driving. I remember learning about 4G LTE with Wi-Fi capabilities when I was in Detroit for this year’s Auto Show with Chevrolet. The possibilities are endless. I learnt about some incredible concepts OnStar is working on to make hotel and restaurant recommendations available to you right from your car. Imagine driving around in a new city. You’re hungry and tired but don’t want to pull over and look up local joints. You can simply hit the OnStar button and get a list of suggestions to check out. This puts the convenience of the internet right at your fingertips.

These are only some of the amazing features that make the 2015 Chevrolet Trax a vehicle you have got to check out. The days of the minivan are behind us, the days of hot crossovers like the Trax, are now. This car gets the official CanadianMomEh two thumbs up. Check out our complete video review below:
