What makes the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze a great ride #review #ChevyAmsdr
The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze is a full packaged deal. The compact sedan is spacious, fuel efficient and easy on the eyes. How do I know? Because I recently leased one for myself and am absolutely in love with it. I was impressed with its compact size yet vast cargo room, amazing in-vehicle connectivity features and state of the art safety technology.
As a parent (read: taxi service) I was looking for a vehicle with excellent safety features, great fuel economy and a trendy look and feel. As a work from home mom, chauffeuring my kids is part of the package. I love that the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze has 10 standard airbags, plus available features like a rear vision camera, rear cross traffic alert and side blind zone alert.
I absolutely love the standard safety features the Cruze comes equipped with, including the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with traction control. For example when driving on slippery surfaces, StabiliTrak helps keep the Cruze on the road by detecting the difference between the direction you’re steering and the direction the vehicle is actually travelling. It then can reactively apply the brakes and, if necessary, adjust engine torque to help keep your vehicle on track. That’s brilliant.
The Cruze was the first car in its class to have 10 standard airbags. Side-impact and knee airbags help protect you and your front passenger and a high-strength steel safety cage and roof-crush resistance surpass requirements. As a mom, that gives me a lot of comfort.
I love that I can connect my smartphone to the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze with bluetooth wireless technology and access my music and make hands free phone calls while ensuring my safety and that of my most precious load (my family).
The standard 6-speed manual transmission helps Cruze LS offer a highway fuel consumption estimate as low as 6.5 L/100 km.7 Models equipped with the 1.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with the 6-speed manual transmission offer a estimate as low as 6.2 L/100 km.
I cannot say enough about the OnStar remote link mobile app. Imagine sitting inside of your home, office or a restaurant while it’s minus ridiculous degrees outside, reaching for your phone then casually starting your vehicle and letting it warm up while you bundle up? That’s exactly what it’s like with the OnStar app. This is especially amazing if you or your spouse accidentally lock your keys inside of the vehicle. Once you have the app configured on your phone, you can unlock your vehicle, start it, set off the alarm and lights from anywhere in the world. You can even check vehicle diagnostics, keep track of routine maintenance and so much more. Don’t worry, it’s password enabled for those of you with gadget happy kids who like to play with your phone.
In the event of a collision, crucial information will be sent to the OnStar Command Centre via the OnStar Automatic Crash Response system. Trained Advisors can then use GPS technology to determine your exact location and request emergency assistance — even if you’re unable to respond.
I was recently in Detroit for the International Auto Show and had the privilege of visiting the OnStar lab. It was one of my favourite parts of the trip. I could not get over the state of the art technology.
I was moved to learn that during Hurricane Katrina, OnStar successfully guided every equipped vehicle owner to safety by guiding them to the best route to safety, including those who were no longer paid subscribers. Hearing that first hand while standing in the OnStar command center made my heart smile. That shows a commitment to success and a concern for its customers.
These are only some of the reasons why I absolutely love my Cruze. It gets the official CanadianMomEh two thumbs up!
Wow! 10 standard airbags! As someone who was in a car accident with my 5 year old (last May), I am all about car safety. Lots of great features I didn’t know about re: the Cruze! Thanks for the heads up! Safety, safety, safety = paramount 🙂
It’s something that matters to every parent. I can only imagine what you must have gone through with your little one! It was one of the primary reasons why I chose the Cruze for my own family. The awesome fuel efficiency helps too 🙂

Wow! That’s pretty darn rad! How cool is that OnStar Lab?! I’ve always loved the look of the Chevy Cruze and personally envied the gas mileage… I drive a SUV… a big one. I’m a mom of four… But no really, these are pretty spectacular little vehicles and I want one.
